The Glow Of Ones Soul Eclipses All Our Mortal Woes

I stood behind an extremely frail yet impeccably dressed; elderly gentleman in a supermarket check out queue recently. A gentleman who was engulfed in an aura of serene love and gentility. With elegance he stood composed in grace waiting for his turn to pay for his provisions, whilst frequently turning to me to smile as if to say I know you.
As his groceries were being checked through the till, he looked straight at me and said; “hello again how are you doing” to which I replied; “great how are you, you’re looking very well” to which he replied; “O well you know things don’t work up there anymore and I’m now a bit slow” whilst tapping his temple.
Now as a mortal I’d never met or even seen that gentleman before in this life but I’ve heard and seen that tapping of the head so many times in my life before, especially by and from gentle souls entering early or moderate states of dementia.
Equally I’ve seen that aura of serene love and gentility around many mortals and many animals in the days leading up to their soul returning home. So things like that don’t surprise me anymore indeed I see them for what they are i.e. one the most beautiful gifts we’ll ever be blessed with down here as mortals.
Therein and before me was a very good soul, perhaps even a great soul in the body of a very old man. A man who clearly had much on his mind, yet a man who’s composure and dignity shone out like a bright star in the cold nights sky.
Where Is The Love, Where Is The Compassion?
At the point the slip of a lass pushed his last few groceries through she said through gum chewing mouth “that’ll be £46.35″ the gentleman looked at her in utter confusion and said “I have enough money on me lass, but I can’t count anymore do you think you can take it from this pulling out perhaps £100 in £20 notes”.
With rolling eyes and that “whatever posture” she tutted, huffed and puffed and tried her very best to make this gentleman look like a fool. Albeit that stopped immediately when I stepped in and pointed out the sign above her head. A sign which read; “if you like our staff let us know, if you don’t tell us why with an arrow pointing to the customer services desk.
Love Is The Only Reason For Being
Once the gentleman had placed his goods in his trolley he moved to one side and steadily began sorting and filling his bags for life. He smiled at me and said “they’ve told me my wife is dying and I am too so I’m going to make us one more slap up meal and take that up to the hospital with me tonight”.
I smiled back but could feel the tears welling up inside me and then he said “we’ve known each other since we were 5 don’t you know, we courted for 7 and we’ve been married 55 years”. “She won’t eat anything she’s to ill now but that’s okay its the least I can do for her, shes been a great lass, a great mother and a great wife too and she knows that I’ve never loved anyone else but her.
In that moment my heart just broke and the tears just rolled down my face like a torrent. The gentleman looked at me and wiped the tears from his own eyes too and said; “anyway nice to see you again larl son, now you take care of yourself do you hear me”.
My reply; “I will, you too and tell your wife I was asking after her and tell her that I’m sending her my love too”. “Beth her name is Beth” he replied “well actually it’s Elizabeth but I’ve always called her my Beth and on that note he smiled warmly and said “see ya marra”.
The Soul Growth in Soulmates
Having read this little article please don’t get me wrong. This encounter was not simply an exercise in mutual pain, for in truth it was nothing more than the instinctive act of mutual unconditional love. It matters not that as mortals we had very little common ground, for at soul level our connection was actually profound.
Therein clearly that gentle old man and I were soulmates and here to offer each other our unconditional love in times of great need. And thats precisely why; soul mates and contrary to populist romantic beliefs come in all shapes and sizes. The good, the bad, the demonic and the angelic and even the weak and the strong at critical points in our souls evolution. That too is precisely why all soulmates have a unique role to play in our lives regardless of whether that is for a reason, a season or for life.
There is no doubt in my mind therefore that the synchronicity of my recent supermarket encounter, was a soulmate unconditional love manifestation. Where nothing is hidden and all is seen and all indeed for a very good reason, to enable us both to share in the glory of unconditional love for perhaps one last time together within the fragility yet vibrancy of mortality.

It never ceases to amaze me what life has to throw at us and sometimes in the most extraordinary places and situations. Equally I’m never really sure what the big picture is especially in relation to instances such as my supermarket encounter.

However if there’s anything I take from my supermarket experience and many, many similar encounters, it’s that there are some truly wonderful souls, doing some truly wonderful things on this cesspit of a planet. All of which carry with them the power to raise our own consciousness and vibration for ever, given that it’s our choice to stagnate or evolve.
All we need to do is bridge the gap and set aside our own selfish preoccupation’s if only for a moment, therein taking the time to reach out and connect with the purity, love, light and generosity of those very special souls. Amen
